What is an Expert Witness?

An expert witness is basically a person who is experienced and qualified in a certain field, in some cases qualified may not come into it as expertise may suffice, e.g. there may be no qualification within the field but the expert may be very experienced.

In the case of the hair world, a qualified Trichologist can become an expert witness. The Institute of Trichologists recommend a course of study should be followed to become a registered expert witness. Harry Callaghan trained with Bond Solon and qualified at Cardiff University in 2012, thus enabling him to be a registered expert witness in the hair field, although he has been an expert witness since 1998.
